We welcome you to explore Emily Carr House, an interpretive site dedicated to the life and work of one of Canada's most renowned creative figures. A celebrated author and painter, Emily Carr, was born in this house on December 13, 1871. The house itself is a Victorian Italianate villa constructed, in part, of California redwood. The ground floor, which is open for tours, special events, and facilities rental has been painstakingly restored to the period when Emily lived here with her the family. Antiques, reproductions, and original artifacts have been used to carefully recreate an authentic Victorian household. In the spirit of Emily our " Peoples' Gallery" often features exhibitions of contemporary artists. Prints of Emily's paintings are always on display and available for sale, along with her books, in our gift shop. Please take the opportunity to learn more about this Canadian icon and her life. Self guided tours allow you to take your time exploring the Carr family home and grounds. Carr House is wheelchair accessible. We serve refreshments courtesy of Celestial Seasonings Teas. Emily Carr House is located at 207 Government Street in Victoria, within walking distance of the Inner Harbour and Beacon Hill Park. Take a look at our Current Events*click here.*
